Anne Hilberts BMusEd, AMusA, MMTA, MVMTA
Anne is a fully qualified music teacher,
specializing in teaching piano, keyboard, composition, theory, musicianship,
music craft and aural skills, with over 25 years experience.
She completed her music degree, studying both music and pedagogy, in 1989. During this time at
Newcastle Conservatorium, she majored in piano performance with the late Dr David Jones, and continued further piano studies with him after graduation. This was a highlight of her studies, and means that her teaching line traces back through Gordon Watson to both Egon Petri and
Busoni, who was a colleague of the famous pianist, Franz Liszt.
Anne likes to keep her music skills up to date and has participated in masterclasses with Gordon Watson, Gerard Willems, Philip Shovk, Warren Thompson, Clemens Leschke, Danielle Salamon, Richard Morphew, James Muir, Gian-Franco & Natalia Ricci, Catriona Stafford, Elizabeth Jacobs, Simon Tedeschi, and Gilbert de Greeve.
Having herself learnt excellent piano technique from a master of such
technique, she loves to impart this to students in their piano lessons, inspiring them
with confidence through their own musical development and personal achievements.
Alexander Hilberts
BA (Music), AMusA, ATCL
In 2018, Alex completed his Bachelor of Arts, specialising in music, at Avondale Conservatorium. He majored in piano performance, studying with Dr Gian-Franco Ricci, and later Dr Jordan Wett, gaining much experience in performance and musicology.
Prior to his music studies at Uni, Alex gained his AMusA, and also his ATCL with Distinction, in piano, while studying with Anne Hilberts. During that time he also competed in many piano eisteddfods throughout NSW, winning many championships and scholarships for his efforts, and learning a lot about piano performance.
He has enjoyed participating and playing in piano workshops and masterclasses with Gerard Willems, Philip Shovk, Clemens Leschke, Catriona Stafford and Elizabeth Jacobs, and this has given him insight into learning and teaching real performance skills.
Alex enjoys encouraging each student to play music they can relate to, finding and devloping their innate musical talent and learning new skills.
Matthew Hilberts
Matthew is an accomplished pianist, having studied music for several years, completing all his AMEB piano grade exams by 2016.
He had previously completed his grade 7 AMEB classical voice exam in 2015. After completing a year in the Bachelor of Arts music program at Avondale Conservatorium in 2018, he is currently majoring in classical voice at Sydney Conservatorium in the Bachelor of Music program.
Matthew has been teaching piano for several years, coaching children and adults, for both their own playing pleasure and for exams. He particularly enjoys seeing the light bulb moments in a lesson when students really connect with their music, and get excited about their achievements!
