Anne Hilberts - experienced piano teacher

Anne Hilberts  BMusEd, AMusA, MMTA, MVMTA

Anne is a fully qualified music teacher, specializing in teaching piano, keyboard, composition, theory, musicianship, music craft and aural skills, with over 25 years experience.

She completed her music degree in 1989, having gained a wealth of knowledge about both music and pedagogy. During this time at Newcastle Conservatorium, she majored in piano with the late Dr David Jones, and continued further piano studies with him after graduation.  Studying performance with the renowned pianist David Jones was a real highlight, and means that she can trace her teaching line back through Gordon Watson to both Egon Petri and Busoni, who was a colleague of the famous pianist, Franz Liszt.  Over the years, Anne has participated in masterclasses with Gordon Watson, Gerard Willems, Philip Shovk, Warren Thompson, Clemens Leschke, Danielle Salamon, Richard Morphew, James Muir, Gian-Franco & Natalia Ricci, Catriona Stafford, Elizabeth Jacobs, Simon Tedeschi, and Gilbert de Greeve.

Having herself learnt excellent piano technique from a master of such technique, she loves to impart this to students in their piano lessons, inspiring them with confidence through their own musical development and personal achievements.

Alexander Hilberts  BA (Mus), AMusA, ATCL.

From 2015 to 2018  Alex studied in the music degree program at Newcastle University Conservatorium and Avondale Conservatorium, majoring in piano performance with both Dr Gian-Franco Ricci and Dr Jordan Wett, gaining much experience in performance and musicology in this time.  He completed his Bachelor of Arts, with a specialisation in music, in 2018.

In 2014, studying with Anne Hilberts, Alex completed both the Associate of Music Australia, in piano, and also the Associate Diploma with Trinity College London, which he passed with Distinction.  He also won the Senior Piano Championships at both Taree and Muswellbrook eisteddfods that year.  Over the last few years he has enjoyed participating in piano masterclasses with Gerard Willems, Catriona Stafford, Giann-Franco and Natalie Ricci, Elizabeth Jacobs, Phillip Shovk and Clemens Leschke.

In 2013 he competed successfully in several eisteddfods, winning the John Willems Championship at Cowra Eisteddfod; the Senior Piano Scholarship and the Open Classical Solo at Orange Eisteddfod; and the Guillame Memorial Cup and Best Overall Pianist at Kempsey Eisteddfod, among other competitions.  In 2011 also he commenced studying Pipe Organ with Philip Matthias, and then later David Clarke, at Newcastle Conservatorium.

Alex enjoys encouraging each student to play music they can relate to, finding and developing their musical talent and learning new skills.
